Revitalize by the waters
Kurunnevan lintujärvi
A lightweight bird tower has been built on the eastern end of the approximately 50-hectare lake. Bird observation is also easy from the road that runs along the southern edge of the lake. The bird tower is 4.6 meters high, single-level and fits 1-2 people. On the western side of the lake, is Pylsynsaari. There is another two-level bird tower, accessible to those with mobility restrictions.
Uljua Reservoir
The Uljua Reservoir, with its 28 km² area and embankments belonging to Europe’s large dams, is both a sight to see and an important recreational area right next to highway 4.
Fishing opportunities in Uljua are excellent: every year, Uljua attracts hundreds of fishers. The highlight of the summer has become the traditional Uljua Veto & Fest organized by local enthusiasts.
From Uljua, you can catch several different fishes. Even the Finnish record burbot has been caught in Uljua. Uljua is also famous for its large pike: it’s not uncommon to catch ten-kilogram pike from our reservoir!
Siikajoki and Lamujoki
Siikajoki and Lamujoki are rich in natural treasures for over 200 kilometers. Lamujoki has a natural grayling population and crayfish have also been preserved in the upper reaches of the river.
Swimming spots
The area features a pier, fitness stairs, a beach volleyball court, a tennis court and a small children’s playground. Toilets are available during the summer season. Water samples are taken during both the summer and winter swimming seasons. In the outdoor swimming area, the water is deepest in the center and at the end of the pier, while the edges are shallow and gradually deepen toward the middle.
In summer, there is a kiosk in operation.
