Stray animals

A dog, cat, or other small companion or pet animal found wandering and taken into custody can be delivered to the municipal animal shelter for temporary care.

The shelter is required to keep the animal for at least 15 days. After this period, the shelter has the right to sell, transfer, or euthanize the animal.
A wild animal taken into care due to illness or injury must be released if it is expected to adapt easily back to life in the wild. If the animal cannot be released or its care cannot be arranged, it must be euthanized. The owner or keeper of the animal may be required to pay compensation for the costs of capture, care, and possible euthanasia.
